About The Writer’s Blog
The Writer’s Blog by Evelyn Dortch exists to inspire and connect both writers and readers by blending the worlds of storytelling, book discovery, and the writing craft. This space is dedicated to fostering creativity, sharing insights from authors, and providing resources that help writers grow while celebrating the magic of books.
Welcome to My Literary World
I’m a proud member of Generation X, raised on mixtapes, midnight movies, and long summer days spent lying in the sun lost in a book, covered in baby oil (do not try this now). These days, I call Appalachia home, where my love of books has only grown. I started reading at the age of three and quickly discovered that books are magical portals to other worlds. Nothing makes me happier than sharing a good book with friends, family, and anyone who loves a great story.
Why I Started The Writer’s Blog
The Writer’s Blog was born out of my love for writing and storytelling. When I first started blogging over ten years ago, I used Eclectic Evelyn as a space to share my writing and connect with other writers. But over time, Eclectic Evelyn became more of a business focused on sponsored posts, lifestyle content, and trending topics. While that shift was necessary, it also meant that my love for books and writing got pushed to the side.
I had owned the EvelynDortch.com domain for nearly a decade, originally forwarding it to Eclectic Evelyn. In 2022, I decided it was time to carve out a dedicated space for storytelling, creativity, and the literary world. The Writer’s Blog is a return to my roots where I share my own writing, highlight incredible books, and connect with authors and readers.
What Makes The Writer’s Blog Unique
Unlike most book blogs that focus only on reviews or writing blogs that center on craft, The Writer’s Blog blends both worlds. As both a reader and a writer, I bring a unique perspective to storytelling, how books shape us, how writing transforms us, and how the two are forever intertwined. Whether you’re an author, an aspiring writer, or just someone who loves getting lost in a good story, this space is for you.
