Welcome to Beaumont Academy! We’re here to mold your supernatural abilities into the best they can be. Remember to submit your abilities test results, or we will deny your application.
After Maxima Lane turns into a bat, her acceptance into Beaumont Academy was a given. It means freedom from her horrid stepmother and equally terrible stepsisters. However, her freedom isn’t long lived as her stepmother claims she doesn’t have the x-gene and if Max can’t turn into a bat before the Magic Sector comes, she might get expelled from school.
Gabriel Hendrix’s life is simple. Capture the villains and don’t fall for a witch. Until he meets Maxima Lane. She has an X-gene that allows her to turn into a bat. Meaning she can follow the falcon, and he can put a stop to the Shadowed—if only it was that simple. The girl comes with a lot of secrets, and it drives Gabriel insane. Why is her stepmother obsessed with her? Why is there yellow in her eyes when it’s supposed to be red and why can’t she activate her bat?
When people die and Max gets kidnapped from the academy, time is running against Gabe. He needs to find answers and Max before it’s too late.

EXCERPT:
I took the chocolate and pushed it into my mouth. The sweetness of the candy mixed with the bitter cocoa taste brought the turmoil to a stop. I found new strength and got up on my feet.
The boy took my bag and asked for my letter.
I handed it to him, and his eyes scanned the words. He looked up at me as his left eyebrow arched.
“Follow me,” he spoke, and we walked toward the group. My knees screamed as my heart pounded. My palms sweated too.
It was my very first time away from the ranch.
The boy stopped in front of one of the older men that towered above him. He wore a black vest with black pants and a cape reaching down to his calves.
I remembered my encounter with the two that day in the forest. They wore capes too.
My gaze flickered to the red blotches in his green eyes and the pointy canine that pressed against his lower lip. He was a vampire.
The boy gave him my letter, and he took it.
He read through it and looked at me. His face was sort of beautiful, but then all vampires were beautiful. They had some kind of hypnotic pull.
I looked away as he scoffed. “Leave her suitcase here and take her to Gabriel.”
The boy nodded, took my letter, and walked in the direction, down the opposite path, past the water feature.
I had to run to keep up with the boy. He was quiet and didn’t utter a single word.
My heart still pounded as we walked on the path that passed the neatly trimmed, hedged garden. A chapel with a bell tower stood gigantically on our left. In the distance, I could see tennis and basketball courts. Echoes and voices came from up ahead.
The boy’s strides were huge, and my breathing was rigid as I tried to keep up with him.
He opened the door to a building.
Inside, rows of stone benches forming a circle descended toward the middle of an open area that reminded me of some sort of arena.
The boy took the aisle through the stone benches and ran down the steps.
My heart bounced faster as it landed on a guy with raven hair. He was practicing some kata with a lance, wearing black pants and a black shield-vest that showcased muscular arms.
He didn’t seem to hear us entering because he kept dancing on the fighting steps of the kata.
A blindfold covered his eyes.
The guy that I’d followed stopped abruptly and blocked me to a halt with an outstretched arm.
Sandbags fell from the roof one after the other. The guy was so fast stabbing each bag. Golden sand pooled out of the bags and streamed to the floor as his blade pierced the skin.
This guy didn’t miss one bag. It was so fast, if I’d winked, I was sure that I would’ve missed it.
The lance was a part of him, like his hand had become the lance.
I knew immediately who that was. It was the Weapon Wielder. Every member of the Moray worshiped his X-Gene.
What was he doing at Beaumond?
My mouth gaped at the way he jumped up and kicked the last bag, breaking the skin. More sand spilled to the floor. Gabriel came to a graceful landing.
He stood straight and my mouth instantly dried as warmth spread through to my stomach.
I’d learned many of the things I needed to survive through books. But not one of the books had taught me how to act when a guy took my breath away.
